Comet ISON Survives Perihelion?

Comet ISON has confounded scientists by surviving its perihelion after it had appeared to disintegrate. Comet specialists had initially thought that ISON completely vaporized during its closest approach on Nov 28th, when it first weakened in brightness, and then failed to emerge from behind the Sun at the expected moment. But bafflingly, a dust trail then slowly emerged and the comet again started to brighten as it emerged from grazing the fiery heat of the solar surface. Rather interestingly, upon its re-emergence after perihelion, the comet appears to have developed a "fan-shape" with two tails (which to me, is very  paredolic - Miraculous Medal anyone?) . It is still not known what kind of display (if any) ISON will put on when it reaches the point where it will be visible in the Earth's skies during early December. There is a strong chance that the comet will completely dissipate before it can be seen with the naked eye, but equally it could still put on a good show in the night skies in time for Advent.  It is definitely worth keeping an eye on this one...

"Our Lady, clothed with the sun"

It is truly fascinating Emmett! And I love what Lisa wrote. I also read the dust surrounding the sun is shaped like an arc. Reminds me of the Virgin of Guadalupe, Noah's arc, the end times....very, very interesting, and I want to thank you Emmett for your unbelievable vision to write about ISON. I wasn't even in the least bit interested until I read your article.

Also, want to comment on the last post about Anonymous' youtube cross. I couldn't get to that link, but thank you for your comments. As for Michael, well, lot's to write about, lol! First of all Michael, The Lady of All Nations apparition has passed the test of recognition not only in the Vatican, but in its predictions! She predicted the rebirth of the state of Israel, the birth of communist China, the Korean war, the end of the Cold war, the Balkan war, the Gulf war, the Iraq war, uprisings against the Egyptian government, chemical and biological weapons! I mean 60 years ago The Lady of All Nations warned about biological warfare programs!!!! Nobody knew of this at that time. This apparition is unbelievably true on facts. When has she been wrong? We are now having tensions in East China Sea and this is consistent to what she predicted. She predicted major problems in China, but in the end China would become Catholic. Now, this is HUGE! And full of hope. You know Michael, I learned through her words "that prophecy does not mean that the future can not be changed. The purpose of the vision is not to show an irrevocably fixed future. The meaning of prophecy is exactly the opposite: it is meant to mobilize the forces of change in the right direction." This particular apparition is a major gift. And Richard Russel's conversion towards Catholicism blazed even more so because of Ida Peederman's visions. He's an expert on geopolitics, and was blown away by the accuracy of the predictions. All she asks from us is so simple and soooo CATHOLIC. She wants us to do according to the Son's will, pray the Rosary and prayer before the image and call upon the last Marian dogma. What should we be afraid of? There is no distortion on Church teachings here. And her words are used in order for us to WAKE UP. "I place my foot on the world. I will help them and lead them to the goal, but they must listen." Unity Michael, unity of all nations to accept and recognize our dependence on God will only save the world from suffering a tragic consequence. And Amsterdam, today, is a multicultural center of the world. Muslims outnumber Catholics and Protestants in Amsterdam. So it's poignant for her to have used Amsterdam and call us from there to work for the declaration of the 5th Marian dogma. She predicts "the dogma will be much disputed, yet it will be carried through." I believe her.

I noted that a secular article said this:
"Astronomers are marveling at the death and apparent resurrection of Comet ISON, which dove close to the sun on Thanksgiving."

Death and resurrection... another sign perhaps?

Ah Mariana,
What can I say? First, predictions can be and are made by the preternatural. Someone has already mentioned Nostradamus in the previous blog. Many of his quatrains have been interpreted to suit these times. It would certainly be prudent to avoid them.
Secondly, I believe you to be placing too much weight on your CIA mate's interpretation, believing his station in life qualifies him to do so. I have read all fifty six messages and at best, found the predictions vague and open to various interpretation. Also, you may be drawing on other modern claimants who state they receive messages from 'the lady' of all nations like 'his littlest of servants' (around 2009-2011) again not approved by the church.
Here's what the demon Beezelbub has admitted under duress at exorcism around 1975:-
E=Exorcist, B=Beezelbub
THE LADY OF ALL NATIONS
E: Say what you have to say, in the name of Jesus, of the Most Holy Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, and in the name of the Most Blessed Sacrament of the Altar!
B: (He sighs) There is a book... it has already been on the market for a number of years. It is called (he moans): “The Lady of All Nations” We have claimed that it originated from a privileged soul, who, moreover, had suffered much. We mixed many good things into it, in particular about famine, war and catastrophes. The freemasons are not afraid to use the name of the Cross in order to harm the rest of the people. The Great Lady up there has never said that it was now necessary to accept the novelties, that it was necessary to go along with one's times, that Heaven wanted things so...
The book comes from Amsterdam: read it right through once. The little picture that goes with it is displayed in many churches. On it these words appear: “Send now your Spirit etc...” and, at the end: “Deign, O lady of all Nations, who was formerly Mary, to be our Advocate”. This last sentence should give food for thought. “Who was formerly...” She is not that any more? We, together with the freemasons, turned that phrase. It was a great success for us. They have copied details in certain lives of the saints, thinking it necessary to finish it off with something analogous. But, at the same time, they have always laid stress on the Church that must draw nearer to Modernism. We have even succeeded in getting it published with an imprimatur. (He laughs) Ha! Ha! We have really “finished it off” with that!
Besides, nearly always in the book, it speaks of “The Lady”, not “The Mother of God, or any other similar title. And on the picture: “Was formerly Mary”. Ha! Ha! “Was formerly”, for the Church which no longer believes in Her.
For many, she was that once - for those who question her virginity, and do not want... there to be a Hell.
We often mimic what you do for your Church. Often, too, we mimic the privileged souls. With our wise heads, we are successful in many things.

The Catholic Church is rich with many approved apparitions and devotions. Surely Mariana, it is better to promote these rather than one so dubious.
God Bless,
Michael

Michael,

Yes, devils can predict the future, in fact they have been planning many events from the other realm so it doesnt surprise that they whisper to someone what is going to happen to ultimately create some form of confusion. Also it needs to be kept in mind everything saints predicted haven't always panned out and not because of disaster being averted through prayer. From memory reading Bernard Ruffin's well researched book on Padre Pio's life, the great mystic of the 20th century got some predictions wrong.

You are very logical in what you relate unfortunately my dealings with Mariana forecast you will get a huge flurry of responses back without directly addressing points head on that you make.

Personally at this point I haven't completely written off Our Lady of All Nations, I haven't had time to look further into things, but there are serious issues with many of the messages, the way they were dealt with and also how the bishop dealt with the supernatural declaration in 2002 from the information you have provided.

kfca said...

Many of those attracted to mystical phenomena, particularly those relating to the Mother of God are faithful, pious Catholics, with an ardent love of God, whose main motivation, we hope, is to serve her better, rather than to serve their own curiosity, or any thirst for sensationalism.
Regarding this Ida Peederman episode..."The Lady of All Nations, WHO ONCE WAS MARY"...
I'm no expert on these things, but I think I read this one years ago, and I have tried to read it again in the last day or so (with great difficulty, as it weighs heavy on the spirit). We must recall that as we are rightly terrified of demonic spirits (our intellects know that we are powerless in their presence), they themselves are terrified of Our Lady, as she has immense power over them: we (men) rely on God totally - all is Grace - and on the Mother of God, especially in this area.
Of all the non-sacramental devotions most hated by demons, arguably, the greatest is the Holy Rosary. The devil would have a huge victory if even some faithful Christians developed an aversion to the angelic salutation or stopped praying the Rosary altogether if they believed that they might be offending Our Lady by addressing her as the Holy Prince Gabriel did: 'Hail Mary, full of grace...'
The devil has clearly been very active since the 20th Century, possibly moreso than ever before; he himself knows which of these private revelations are extraordinary graces and to the contrary, which are not, and he will readily recapitulate some of the truths (Fatima, the titles behind a Fifth Marian Dogma etc), even many of the truths, if it means he can mitigate his losses in some way as it leads him to greater gains in the longer term. (Consider the effect on a community of adding a tiny drop of strychnine to a well). We are incapable of fathoming the depth of either his created intellect or his malice, but should have no doubt that he is the architect of much of the geopolitical strife which Divine Providence has permitted to him, so of course he can predict the future with relative accuracy. Hence, be careful, lest you miss the wood for the trees. We are none of us obligated to accept private revelation, and an obsession with it (you will agree, I hope) is unhealthy. Our Faith is glorious of itself: it needs no embellishment.
Remember too, the devil obviously knows how it ends, Who it Is Who triumphs: Christ, Our Lord. And so we are assured, through the Immaculate Heart of Mary. So the object of these battles, of all spiritual warfare, and the main point of private revelation, is not the end times of itself, the coming persecution, the reign of the anti-Christ - these things were always going to come, and we must brace ourselves for them, but without fear, recalling the lesson of the Storm on Galilee. No, it is all about the fate of human souls, countless human souls; about men whom God created, redeemed and loves, taking the places (of a finite, if huge, number) of fallen spirits. The devil wants to ruin as many souls as possible in the meantime, and one of his main stratagems as we know is to lead men away from the sources of graces and from Grace itself, and into error.
I agree however that this endeavour, (in which Emmett and others are engaged), has probably never been more relevant since apostolic times.

I, personally, don't believe in this Lady of All Nations for many reasons. Just the fact that she calls herself "Who once was Mary" turns me off. Mary will always be Mary. Period. She would never say that.

A lot of these false apparitions fosters, among other things, distraction from Our Lady of Fatima and what She requested of us which is still not being heeded.

Just my two cents. And BTW I'll definitly be keeping an eye on this comet, that's for sure.

Thank you Jamey, Fiona and Hannah for your supporting words and thank you Emmett for allowing some rope.
Regarding comet Ison it certainly is interesting to witness such an event. When the reports were in that it plunged into the sun, I still harboured hope of its survival.
I read the other day, somewhere on the 'google net' that we have been graced with four comets in recent months. Ison, Encke, Linear and Lovejoy and one commentator referred to them as the four horsemen of the apocalypse. I don' think he supported his statement with any valid reference and I give more credence to Emmett's correlation with Churchill, Eisenhower, Stalin and Hitler.

Jamey, I don't really mind anyone mocking me. I guess I'm rather used to it, I have 5 children, so believe me I get shafted often. But to mock a professor Mark Miravalle of Mariology in Steubenville University or Richard L. Russell a Catholic National Security expert professor in Georgetown University is not quite the norm here in the USA. But the knowledge of these Catholics angers the Obama administration. They are baffled by our Vatican intelligence so the leftists are closing the U.S. embassy in the Vatican. This action tells us Obama and our State Dept want to keep Catholics out of his foreign plans. Let me give you Jamey, Michael, and of course our young Hannah a bit of truth. The Lady of All Nations is asking for your courageous fight for the remedy for world peace. How can anyone after studying this apparition not believe? Only a true Socialist who has infiltrated in the Church will divert attention away from this unbelievable apparition. Jamey, as a traditionalist this apparition is for you. The Lady of All Nations is not asking for New Doctrine, heck no, her words are old ideas. The fact that Our Blessed Mother suffered with Jesus is a 2nd and 3rd Century understanding. Her words do not mean she is equal with Jesus, but she is the WOMAN with the REDEEMER. She suffered with Jesus. She IS the Mother of All People's, Who Once was Mary. Like Pope Benedict who was once Joseph. Once he became Pope, he began a new role. Well, so did Mary of Nazareth who said yes to God's will up to Calvary. There at the Cross Mary gets a new role. She becomes the Spiritual Mother of All Humanity. "Behold You Mother," said Jesus. She suffered with Jesus for all of us. How can you even question this? www.youtube.com/watch?v=wsRLOzWaFFs

Hello Mariana,
Let's be straight. No one is mocking you. No one is mocking Mark or Richard. My sincere apologies if I have upset you in any way. I have six children and I understand the incredible sacrifices that you would make for your children. I am definitely not a socialist and do not wish to divert anyone from any holy endeavour.
Is it not considered a work of mercy to remind fellow Catholics to use discernment in these matters? Simply, I have issues with this alleged apparition and I understand that you are agreeable with with it.
I love and honour Our Lady and take particular interest in Marian apparitions. I adhere to any decisions the Church makes regarding any apparitions. I have already expressed reservations with 'the lady' following much prayer and research.

No problem Michael, I'm not in the least bit upset. But it would be nice for those reading our comments to get a clearer reason of why you disagree with The Lady of All Nations. I mean most of us understand why the MDM, John Leary, etc... apparitions are false, but what exactly does The Lady of All Nations say against Church teachings? I have tried my best to give many reasons why the apparition is recognized by the Bishops. We really don't want a flurry of responses back from you. So, if you please, won't you give us your wise reasons why you disagree with the Catholic Church?

"So, if you please, won't you give us your wise reasons why you disagree with the Catholic Church?"

This is enough to make me stop coming here.

Mariana, a disagreement with you equates to a disagreement with the Catholic Church? This is why I don't linger at sites with Garabandal enthusiasts. It often devolves to this. This thread was about Comet ISON, but has been hijacked to yet another long string of All-Nations-and-Garabandal-or-nothing. For those of us that do not accept Garabandal or Our Lady of All Nations, this is extremely tedious. Sifting through the comments to avoid them - on an otherwise fine blog - is more than I have time for right now. And the snarky tone is just icing on the cake.

Mariana, perhaps you don't realize it, but you essentially just said that someone disagreeing with you is a bad Catholic. I am permitted to disagree with Mark Miravalle or you without being in disagreement with the Church. Garabandal is not a matter of doctrine or dogma. Remember that.

And just for the record, I accept what the Church says about these things simply because there are enough falsehoods on the internet that I can't sort out the reality. The whole Padre-Pio-Supported-Garabanal meme is not supported by any actual facts that I've found, and that's just one example. I'm not clever enough to sort out the details, so I trust Holy Mother Church to do it for me.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on Our Lady of All of Nations Michael. Cardinal Bertone's 2007 book "The Last Secret of Fatima" appears to be very telling as to the position of the CDF on this matter:

"Fatima is not an isolated phenomenon. Far be it from me to question whether they pursue a common "strategy". Ironically, it was just when the theologians had finished demoting visions to second-class phenomena that the era of the major apparitions began. Paray-le-Monial and Saint Margaret Mary Alacoque (1673-1675); the Marian apparitions at Rue de Bac in Paris (1830), La Salette (1846), Lourdes (1858), Pontmain (1871), Fatima (1917), Beauraing (1932-1933), Banneaux (1933). Billet reckons that between 1928 and 1975 there were 232 authentic and alleged apparitions in thirty-two countries, with the tide of the phenomena hitting its peak sometime between 1954 and 1957. SPEAKING THROUGH THE RESPECTIVE DIOCESAN BISHOPS, the Church has recognized only 15 of these occurrences as authentic. Among them are 11 apparitions: Rome 1842 (Maria Alphonse Ratisbonne sees the Virgin); La Salette, 1846 (apparitions of the Virgin to Maximin and Melanie); Rimini, Italy, 1850 (an image of the Mater Misericordiae whose eyes move for several days); Lourdes, 1858 (eighteen apparitions to Bernadette Soubirous); Pontmain, France, 1871 (Mary appears to Eugene Barbette); Gietrzwald, Poland, 1877 (two girls see the Virgin); Quito, Ecuador, 1906 (the image of Our Lady of Good Success moves its eyes more than twenty times); Fatima, 1917 (six apparitions of Mary); Beauring Belgium, 1932-1933 (thirty-three apparitions to five children); Banneaux, Belgium, 1933 (eight apparitions to the twelve-year-old girl Mariette Beco); Siracusa, Italy, 1953 (an image of the Immaculate Heart of Mary weeps for four days) Zaytun, Egypt, 1968 (the Mother of Light appears several times on the dome of a Coptic Church); Akita, Japan, 1973 (a statue of Our Lady weeps 101 times); Kibeho, Rwanda, 1981-1989 (Our Lady appears to seven visionaries)."
Bertone, "The Last Secret of Fatima" pp10-11.

The absence of Our Lady of All nations here is glaring. Given that this apparition has the diocesan approval of Bishop Punt, it surely should be included among this list. The only reason Knock is left out of this list is that the Archbishop of Tuam never made any official pronouncement on the apparitions, in spite of the fact that the two theological commissions appointed by the Archbishop returned with a positive verdict. The Knock shrine was also conferred with the Golden Rose by Pope John Paul II in 1979.

We don't need to worry about ISON being a threat in any way to the Earth, Charles. Comets have a fairly fixed trajectory once they enter the solar system, due to the gravitational pull of the Sun, and their path can be calculated precisely by astronomers. Anyway, it looks like ISON won't be putting on a naked eye display after all. The remnants of it appear to have further disintegrated.

Jamey said...

Ultimately an apparition doesn't get the green light because of:

- Padre Pio's supposed thoughts or whether he gave a glove to someone,
- certain predictions seeming to come true or even
- prayer, conversion and fervor associated with but:

Whether there is reconciling to the eternal Magisterium, that is no 1 and usually some form of genuine public miracle is involved. Are the messages compatible with what we read in scripture and from the Early Fathers and saints down the centuries, this is the test. Fortunately God permits nasty slip ups with seers to help us discern.

Mark W,

Please stay around here. In any case thank-you for many times defending decent people who have been unfairly attacked here and God Bless.

Thanks Emmett. I was pleased to see Our Lady of Good Success mentioned in Tarcisio Card. Bertone's list.

When I first read of this some years ago, the history of the original statue, I was struck by the account that the Seraphic Father was among those so honoured to help complete the work of Our Lady of Good Success, (Our Lady of Quito), as I have come to think of this work also as yet another aspect of the Triumph of the Immaculate Heart.

I wondered at the time what awful work was to be done in his (St Francis') name, and it has come back to weigh heavily on my mind and heart since Lent of last year.

As I said before, I'm no expert on these phenomena, so happy to be corrected.

Anonymous said...

Our Lady of Good Success is an important apparition for these time. She predicted the catastrophic crisis in the Church in the 16th century. Most importantly, it's approved by the Church.

My problem with these false apparitions is that they take away attention from the true ones. I've met some people who make one apparition(not mentioning it because I don't want to start a problem...) like their mini-god. They're obsessed with it. That's not good. We shouldn't be running after any apparitions. We have the dogmas and doctrines and tradition and the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass to feed our souls. We don't need instant messages from Heaven via. the Devil, who pretends to be Mary. The ones approved by the Church were approved for a reason. Those FEW are what we need to listen to. Don't think you can't be deceived. Christ said false prophets would come and deceive, if possible, even the elect. The Devil can dress up as Mary and appear anywhere he wants, if God permits. If we aren't careful we'll fall for it, thinking it's true because of the fruits or what I "experienced." I guess if we feel electricity in our body that means it's the Holy Ghost and it's from God. The Holy Spirit doesn't draw attention to Himself and He isn't electricity. Whatever that is is diabolical. Thinking of Medjugorje and all that goes on over there.

Just some thoughts. I don't mean to get off the topic of ISON. Sorry...

Mark, so sorry you feel that I was attacking your wife when I mentioned Socialism. Let me try to explain, it wasn't personal. We do have a Church and society that is infiltrated by plenty of Socialists. And an apparition like The Lady of All Nations, warns us of such a ploy. Wars only help BIG government expand. It's Statist. As an American we spend 57 cents out every tax dollar to fund the military industrial complex. These wars have only bankrupted my nation. The wars have seriously helped the Socialists here in our own government. Obama won the elections on an anti-war campaign. And so far, he's lied about getting us out of them. My position on geopolitics is in accordance with the Vatican. Enough of these WARS! Wars only bring misery to the poor and middle class. By the way my own grandfather was imprisoned for 20 years in a communist cell, because he refused to give up his faith, business and property to a communist government revolution. I do know very well what communism is all about, we were victims of it. My point was to try to explain how accurate the geopolitical facts are with The Lady of All Nations. Whether you believe or not is up to you, I just wanted to know the facts against it. I wasn't convinced by those whose reasons are only "it's diabolical." And I am sorry you feel I should stay in topic. I thought I was in topic. I apologize if the topic of apparitions that are on the 2nd stage of recognition in the Church frustrate you. God be with you and all of us.

Interesting article on spirit daily regarding Akita, Michael Brown certainly has some contacts. Unlike other seers Sr Sasagawa keeps quiet about her heavenly visitations and what they entail. The curious part of me would love to hear what she is being told. Fr Yasuda had a decent innings and by all impressions died a holy death. Unfortunately there has been persecution for those associated with the apparition, despite the personal views of succeeding bishops, Bishop Ito's declaration is still enforced and this was confirmed by Fr O'Connor who received such a letter in the 90s from the diocese.

Emmett O'Regan said...

I read that article Jamey - it was very interesting. Especially since no one has heard from Sr. Sasagawa in such a long time. It just goes to show that the bishops don't always get it right. Melanie Calvat faced a similar situation, with a subsequent bishop removing his support for La Salette.

Jamey said...

Emmett, which bishop did you think didn't get it right? What are you impressions of the Sr?

Emmett O'Regan said...

I think Bishop Ito was right in approving the apparitions, after consultation with the CDF. There was quite a lot of phenomena associated with Akita, and Sr. Sasagawa's prophecy of her healing of deafness is particularly striking. Instances of miraculous healing is a surefire way of determining evidence of the supernatural, since this is beyond the capabilities of demons. Given that this healing was linked to a prophecy, this further strengthens her case. Sr. seems like a very holy and obedient soul.

Answering Mariana's comment about World Peace: there is ONLY - and ONLY ONE - thing that will bring it about, and it is related to Fatima... THE CONSECRATION OF RUSSIA!
'That' will bring about the Triumph of Mary's Immaculate Heart.
Some of you commented in another post in this blog how 'on the point' the "Locutions to the World" are... I've been reading them and every MONTH Our Lady seems to be waiting this Consecration from Pope Francis.
As to Card. Bertonne, with all respect due, he will have one day to give account to God on the cover up of the text that is still missing from the III Secret of Fatima (which everything points out to it being Our Lady's explanation of the Jacinta's vision made public years ago). For this I advise those who don't know to read Socci's book.

It's not about ISON but it is near the same genre.

Bob Sungenis has a movie coming around in the spring of '14 called "The Principle" which should raise some eyebrows everywhere. Thought I would put a bug in Catholics ears. It is a controversial subject that might enflame passions everywhere. It is the debate between heliocentrism and geocentrism. A trailer can be viewed on facebook.

I have followed Sungenis vis-vis his promotion of Geocentrism against the prevailing god of Scientism's heliocentrism. Go to his website galileowaswrong.com, or read his magisterial book Galileo Was Wrong The Church Was Right, and see this lion of the church defend the traditional teaching of the Church. We need to man up and defend the Church against false science: We are at the centre of the universe, not as Copernicus would have us believe, in some far off, out of the way insignificant backwater; God put us there, and the sun and the stars revolve around us. Wow isn't God great. It is because fallen man, in the guise of some of his high priests of Scientism - Einstein, Hubble, Hawking - are terrified of bowing down to the God of the Catholic Church that they have given us every hotch-potch theory to bedazzle the world. But true Science will shine through, and that is where Sungenis comes in. I have awaited this film eagerly. I hope that it lives up to everything that it promises to be: earth-shattering and Catholic. Forget the Big Bang, seemingly having some gravitas because it was devised by Lemaitre, the Jesuit, but accept the Word of God who created the world ex nihilo, in 6 days. Blessed be God!

Thank you Jorge for giving us your opinion. And I agree with you about the consecration of Russia. But I believe it has been done already. We are seeing it today. In fact, this week's turmoil in Ukraine is a fight against the European Union. The European Union is a deeply anti Catholic organization. They offer nothing good for the people of Ukraine. The only thing the EU wants is to deny Russia a geopolitical peace in that region. In fact, the EU is broke, it can't help Ukraine with its economy, it would be a bad deal in the end for Ukraine to separate from a partnership with Russia. Why would a Christian nation like Ukraine want to destroy its religious heritage for the secular one the European Union is offering? We are witnessing prophecy here. "Ukraine will save Russia, and in the end, Russia will save the West." This was told to us by Terelya. He was the visionary who was jailed in a communist cell in Ukraine, who was visited by Our Lady. She promised like in Fatima, if the world would repent and consecrate Russia to her heart, Russia would convert. Well, the conversion began with the collapse of the Soviet Union, thanks to our dear Pope John Paul II. I truly believe we are witnessing the salvation of Russia today, and the desecration of the West's society and its economy. Western Europe has still lots too suffer. The European Union was a terrible mistake. May God help Europe and my own nation to return to God soon. Also, I believe Pope Francis is the Pope who will be guiding us at the end of this era, into the new one. He is the one. He is the shepherd, she has chosen to lead the "little flock." We are very close to her triumph. Curiously, all this was also told to Fr Gobbi.

The perception that the the Earth may be the centre of the universe after all has reappeared in scientific circles recently. See this article about the Big Bang Afterglow.
